I take back every statement of undying love I've ever made for a cheese. They were all undeserving.
THIS cheese, on the other hand, is a gift from the heavens!
Goat cheese with Fig.
This has to be the most delicious and unique cheese I've ever had. It's wonderful, and the sweetness of the fig is so subtle that it perfectly balances the bitterness that is the trademark of a classic chevre. I want to stockpile this in my fridge the way crazy woodsmen stockpile arms for the apocalypse. I could live on cheese alone, and die happy when my reserves dwindled.
I must admit, I am a bit of a cheese-oholic. I think it's absolutely a wonder of the world, and I am always on the hunt for new delicacies! Usually anything wrapped in cloth gets my attention instantly, but on a recent trip to the market I came upon a rather unusual find: Goat cheese rolled in cranberries!
I have been a committed and loyal lover of goat cheese for years, and it is truly my all-time favorite, but I have to admit I didn't have very high hopes for this one.
Happily I was surprised at how awesome it was! The cranberries were treated in a mild sugar and cinnamon baste and the combination of the tart chevre with the sweet and fruity cranberry was DIVINE!
It makes a killer dessert cheese, and would be amazing with sliced pears. If you're looking for something unusual to serve for New Years, I recommend you hunt this down!
Check back often for new work and one of a kind pieces! We'll show it off here before it's added to the shop.
