Thanksgiving was really wonderful this year. I decided to start cooking some of the meal the night before, which aside from massively reducing the chaos of the next morning also made the sides I prepared insanely good from stewing all night! Can't even believe this is the first year that made sense to me!
But this year was just downright awesome. The house smelled of sweet honeybaked ham, hickory smoked turkey, and the aroma of my made from scratch apple cinnamon cranberry sauce permeated everything and created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were surrounded by people we love, there was endless laughter, and we all had a feast suited for kings! In addition to the delicious turkey and ham, we had traditional oven baked bread stuffing, crisped pine nut and walnut stuffing (my specialty!), garlic roasted red russet potatoes, and I decided to add a few new dishes to the table as well this year - sweet potato mash and brussels sprouts. The new dishes were amazing and I'm totally going to be adding those to the regular holiday meal menu! We also had some incredible candied yams, apple cider, and the most amazing pumpkin pie in the world. The day seemed to be suspended in time. I honestly can't recall a more lovely afternoon spent with family and friends.
Not to mention, the impromptu excursion out to Yougrtland for some Taro flavored frozen yogurt was pretty spectacular all in itself! Makes me so incredibly excited for everything Christmas will bring.
We are honestly so grateful for so much, and so blessed by the universe at this very moment - and this thanksgiving we felt it down to our very core.
I intended to take millions of photographs, especially once everything was beautifully plated and set out, but I ended up becoming so enveloped in the day itself that it completely slipped my mind! But these are our fresh cranberries, soon to be turned into our utterly epic apple cinnamon cranberry sauce!
