A quite random tour through blogland today has left me feeling seriously nostalgic.
I happened upon a little blurb about fashion. Fairly normal. However, the article I was reading completely and instantly took a back seat in my mind when I read the name of one of the shops mentioned. The shop was VillaVillaKula.
I instantly recognized the name but couldn't place it....it took me a minute or two, but then it hit me!
Of course!
Villa Villekula!!!!!
I immediately began humming the theme song to the old 1970's show I used to watch religiously as a child. The tune came back to me as if I had been singing it every day for the last 25 years.
Such a feeling of nostalgia!
"It's Pippi Longstocking! Hey ho ho haw hee haw haw!...."
I ADORED Pippi as a child. I wanted to be her! Who wouldn't?
A whole house to herself, a suitcase full of gold coins, a pirate father, a horse and a monkey named Mr. Nilsson?!
Not to mention being stronger than 10 men.
I have so many memories of watching Pippi and her friends Tommy and Annika. Running through town, causing mischief.... I was so fully invested in following her adventures nothing else existed when that show was on!
She had her very own world, and it was such a fantastic one.
I had forgotten about Pippi, her horse Old Man and Mr. Nilsson for a long time. But I am sooooo glad that they've all popped back into my life if just for a day. I am reminded how innocent, blissful, and utterly incredible childhood can be....
Pippi rocked then, and she rocks now.
Long live Pippi!
Thanks for the reminder, Pippi rocks

I loved her as a child too, but never got to see often enough--no netflicks or youtube in those days. So I rented it for my daughter when she was only 3 and she fell in love. Her younger brother followed in his adoration of Pippi. They have been watching it ever since. What a wonderful strong girl myth. So much better than Disney princesses.
