The last of the winter holidays is here! Time to take start anew, make resolutions, prepare for Spring, and look ahead to the future! We're excited! We have a good feeling about 2012!

Post Holiday Melancholy

   We don't know about you guys, but it always feels so bittersweet in the post-holiday lull. We love the slower pace, the ability to sit back and relax and relish the time away from work and school and the hustle and bustle of non-holiday life. But at the same time the sparkly magic holiday cheer seems to dissipate too quickly, the flurry of work that always floods in every December turns into a crawl, and we find ourselves not quite sure what to do to fill the void! Every year we always end up wishing the holidays would last JUST a bit longer.

We always get so very used to the lights strung up on everyone's houses, and having eight million messages in our inbox every morning! And every year we know this feeling will come, but every year we still can't manage to reconcile it! I guess that means it's time to go through the holiday photos and relive the magic! We took an epic amount of photographs this year, baked an even more epic amount of Cristmas cupcakes, and it looks like the only thing to do is to make up for lost time and start posting them! Who's ready?

Holiday Fuel

   The holiday rish is almost over and it's been such a great, fun ride this year! We've been living on round the clock coffee trips, filling in the gaps at home when a run to Starbucks seems just too daunting. We've kept ourselves well caffeinated and hard at work in order to get everything out on time, and although we're still cranking holiday orders out we can see the light at the end of the tunnel! We always love this time of year, the pace of work, the colder weather, the busy shopping and crafting and shipping and decorating. Nothing quite compares to it.

But most of all, you guys will never know how happy it makes us to know that our pieces are sitting wrapped beneath your trees right now, ready to be opened on Christmas morning! We hope each and every one will bring beaming smiles and happiness to their new owners! It's such an awesome feeling, and we're eternally grateful to every single one of you for letting us be a small part of your holiday season. It's been absolutely magical!

Star Stingray

   Alright... a lot of designers work with stingray. It' a difficult leather to work with, requires tremendous precision and patience, but aside from the technical intricacies of it all is a stunning and standout leather no matter what. It looks incredible, feels incredible, and just exudes glamour. You can find a bevy of exquisite stingray leather goods out there in the world, but no place other than the UNEARTHED shop can you find this! A rarity if there ever was one - star stingray! And not just any star stingray, green and burgundy star stingray! Literally, the rarest and most unusual piece we have ever offered. We've never come across anything like this, anywhere. The color is beyond beautiful and almost transcendently so. It has this distinctly ethereal and cosmic vibe to it that is beyond amazing. We know we sound a bit hyberbolic here, but truly, the immense beauty of this piece can't be overstated. If you're looking for something for someone who literally has everything, we can guarantee that they won't have this! This is the only piece like this that exists in the world, and hope it finds a wonderful home before we decide to keep it for ourselves!

Aaaahhh, 'Tis the season!

I know it's been a while since we posted anything, but man oh man, it has been CRAZY over here! We've been working our little fingers to the bone, ruining manicures left and right, and have been awash in a sea of priority mail boxes and stingray dust! Looks like everyone is shopping early this year, which is awesome! Nothing feels quite as satisfying as crossing off that special someone from your holiday shopping list and knowing they're getting something beautiful, handcrafted, and exotic! But that means double duty for us! It's ok though, we don't mind. The holiday pace is actually quite amazing, and without fail come Dec 24th we end up feeling aimless and bored and have no idea what to do with ourselves!

But amidst all the holiday madness we're still trying to find some time to bring you new and amazing things! We very randomly stumbled upon what we thought was a long gone hide - a spectacular and extremely rare burgundy and green star stingray! We thought we had sold out of every last inch of this hide years ago, but apparently stashed a bit away so well that even we forgot about it until now! We're seriously contemplating keeping this ourselves, but you might be lucky enough to find it in the shop soon. We'll keep ya posted. In the meantime, check out the awesomeness!

Introducing Cinnamon Brown Alligator!

   We've been working on this particular piece for a while and finally we've got it up in the shop! We really really love this one, it's such a wonderfully warm reddish brown, completely perfect for Fall. We won't be doing too many in this color, and while it's technically not a limited edition, it won't be made in large numbers. So, if you're looking for something edgy and dramatic, but still warm and totally chic, you've just hit the jackpot!

We just listed this new piece in the shop! We're completely in love with it. It's definitely a new all-time shop favorite. Weird Science

   Over the last few weeks we've been nurturing a school science project over here, which has been simultaneously gross and completely awesome! Subject? The effects of acids on bones. The kiddo immersed bones in vinegar, soda, lemon juice (and water for a control) and let them sit. We monitored the progress daily, and as it turns out, bones get pretty rubbery while in prolonged contact with organic acid! Kinda cool, right? The bone we sat in lemon juice was literally able to bend like rubber! Try it!

Black Polished Stingray Cuff!

   We're so excited about this new piece! Nothing quite floats our boat like black ang gold together, and when the black is this super sexy wet look stingray, well.... it's pretty epic in our minds! We just listed this gorgeous piece in the shop this evening and couldn't wait to share it here. It's really so gorgeous, and the black is not really a black, but rather a milky, deep deep asphalt grey that is sort of a black, but just not completely! It's really one of the most clasic, elegant, and timeless pieces we're offering now, and is still ultra glam on top of it! What a combo, eh? An UNEARTHED Halloween

   Before we completely resign ourselves to the passing of Halloween and move on to the other festivites of Fall and Winter we thought we'd share our Pumpkin carving from this year! We all sat down at the dining room table before sunset on Halloween and started carving! It was awesome. I love the smell of a freshly opened pumpkin, that thick, starchy, distinctively pumpkin smell. And the tactile sensation of reaching inside and pulling out seedy, stringy pumpkin guts. Man, it's epic! Gross and creepy and fun all at the same time, kind of embodies the spirit of Halloween itself, doesn't it?

Anyway, we all carved pumpkins and had them ready to welcome Trick-or-Treaters by the time the day went dark! We didn't go all out with our house decorations this year, but our Jack-O-Lanterns made for some really classic Halloween ambience! We had a ton of kids come by, and it's always so cool seeing the costumes and feeling the excitement of the kids! My little ones did the neighborhood rounds and came home with a totally decent stash (which still hasn't been polished off completely, can you believe it?!). I passed out candy and baked a few loaves of pumpkin bread which definitely is going to eb a new tradition around here. The smell of pumpkin and cloves and nutmeg and cinnamon coming from the oven mixed with the waxy candle smell wafting in from the pumpkins in the porch was divine! It made for a completely amazing night. Can't wait to do it all again next year!

This is my oldest son's pumpkin(he just turned 10!). He carved it totally by himself, from his own design! Kinda cool, right?

These are G's pumpkins... she got to do two this year!

And this is my little 7 year old's pumpkin! Carved by himself from his own design. It's supposed to be a Transformer. I totally see it, don't you?

And then there is this pumpkin...... this particular one was carved by a friend who came over for the festivities. He guarded this Jack-O-Lantern with his life and wouldn't let us see it until the big lit up reveal. Apparently this pumpkin is supposed to be wearing a pair of my giant Dior sunglasses - in my defense, those sunglasses are RAD, they fit amazingly well, and the lenses make the world look so so pretty, ok?! Kinda funny though, my obsession with enormous sunglasses was mocked with a pumpkin! Definitely a first!
